GMHC Cabaret and Howard Ashman Award
GMHC hosted the 2022 Cabaret and Howard Ashman Award at Joe’s Pub—our first in-person event in two years—on March 24, and we thank all who helped make the evening so special. This year, we honored Lea DeLaria, the comedian, actress and jazz musician, with the Howard Ashman Award to celebrate her trailblazing work in the LGBTQ+ community and the fight against HIV and AIDS.
Hosted by Kate Rigg, this incredible evening featured performances from Gabriel Ebert, Katie Finneran, Gina Gershon, Cady Huffman, Dina Martina, and The Maine Attraction. Friends of Lea, including Sandra Bernhard, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, and Carrie Preston, also made special appearances.
