Honoring Alan Menken with the Howard Ashman Award made the 2024 GMHC Cabaret one for the books. The performances! The stories! The unbridled joy that washed over the audience as they recognized each Ashman/Menken song sung by Broadway’s best.

As 2024 kicks off, GMHC’s Coordinator of Prevention Services Luna Luis Ortiz is feeling new energy. He is busy planning our storied Latex Ball and facilitating Clubhouse GMHC, a weekly drop-in space for youth and young adults. The Clubhouse just relaunched after a hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Last year, more than 11,000 enthusiastic participants raised over $2.1 million to benefit GMHC’s lifesaving services for people living and affected by HIV and AIDS. GMHC aims to top that number in 2024.
GMHC staff and volunteers delivered extra-large shopping bags of food and backpacks full of warm winter gear to 400 clients for the holidays.
Project Transcend held its second annual Holiday Outing on December 14 for transgender, gender nonconforming, and nonbinary (TGNCNB) clients to reconnect in person and share some camaraderie about how they are navigating the holidays.
