Role-models Educating All Labels (4REAL) / Community Promise
IGMH implements 4REAL / Community PROMISE for young men of color who have sex with other men ages 24 or younger who are members of the House and Ball community in New York City. Community PROMISE is an ideal community based intervention with which to engage this population around HIV prevention and other health seeking behaviors. 4REAL provides young men of color with an opportunity to voice their personal experiences with risk-related behavior and share how they deal with the issues they face.

The core elements of Community PROMISE ensure that we:

  • Get an up to date understanding of the target population through the Community Identification Process (CID).
  • Create effective and population appropriate Role Model Stories
  • Access the target population using Peer Advocates to engage the community with the Role Model Stories
  • Conduct integrated evaluation to measure effectiveness of the intervention.
