   Introduction
The Public Policy Department is an aggressive advocate, at the city, state, and federal levels, for fair and effective HIV and AIDS-related policies.

The Public Policy Department:

  • Monitors and analyzes HIV/AIDS issues and developing public policy positions.
  • Directly influences executive and legislative government policies and procedures.
  • Leads HIV/AIDS community coalitions.
  • Mobilizes the community to help shape public policy.
  • Raises awareness in the HIV/AIDS community by disseminating information on the positions of public officials and candidates for elected office.

Through its public policy efforts, GMHC keeps HIV prevention, treatment and care, and a cure for HIV urgent global, national, and local priorities.
