Making a difference in the lives of people living with or affected by HIV and/or AIDS is what we do, and we welcome you to join us in fulfilling our mission. We have both individual and group volunteering options at GMHC. If you are interested in group opportunities, please refer to the Group Volunteer Opportunities link on the left hand side of the page. If you are an interested individual, the process for becoming a volunteer is described below.
The volunteering process begins with visiting our website at gmhc.org and reviewing the general volunteering opportunities. The next step is to attend a Volunteer Open House which takes place every Wednesday at 10:30 am and on the first Wednesday of every month at 6:30 pm at 446 West 33rd Street. No reservation is required. The Volunteer Application can be found here. We ask everyone to complete the application before the Open House begins.
The Volunteer Open House is an opportunity to understand our core values and services while exploring which of our opportunities appeal to you. Further, you will have a conversation with the volunteer liaison to discuss what you are hoping to contribute, if that is a need we have, and how we will move forward with your application.
