LIVES AT STAKE: Black gay men and HIV in New York and around the world
A community forum confronting the complex issues faced by black gay and bisexual men, and other men of color who have sex with men, including sex, race, community, spirituality — and more — Moderated by Odell Mays, Chair of GMHC's Board of Directors. Panelists include: Sam Avrett, the MSM Initiative, American Foundation for AIDS Research (amfAR); Durrell Knights, Many Men, Many Voices, GMHC; Robert Miller, PhD, School of Social Welfare, State University of New York-Albany; Anthony Morgan, New York State Black Gay Network; Tokes Osubu, Gay Men of African Descent (GMAD). AIDS: Our Celebration of Life: Remembering those who have passed; Rejoicing in our lives today; Renewing our commitment to take action

This annual, non-denominational/non-traditional service is a time for remembering those who have passed from HIV/AIDS and an opportunity to rejoice in those who are living with HIV/AIDS. Reception follows after service. Hosted by the Volunteer, Work & Wellness Center, Community Advisory Board and the Center for Special Studies, New York-Presbyterian Hospital.

Evening of Reflection, Celebration and Remembrance

Hosted by Soledad O'Brien, CNN; Guest speakers include the United Nations Secretary General Ki Moon; Ambassador Richard Holbrooke; Petra Berrios, AIDS Activist; Angelin Chang, pianist; Harambee Dance Company. Sponsored by the United Nations, the Hunger Project, St. Bartholomew Church, GMHC, World Council of Churches, Engender Health, MaAfrika Tikkun, Islamic Cultural Center and a growing network in the New York State Area. Reception follows after service.

The 5th Annual New York AIDS Film Festival will host screenings of short films and documentaries at the United Nations and New York University on November 29 and December 1. The Festival's Red Ball will give awards and also boasts a celebrity fashion show. The awards will go to Heatherette, Miss Universe — Riyo Mori, BET and Gay Men's Health Crisis for 25 years of outstanding service. The event is hosted by Lauren Bush, Maggie Rizer, Greta Cavazzoni and Suzanne Engo. It boasts celebrities such as Cassie, Naughty By Nature, Danity Kane and more. Free HIV testing

The David Geffen Center for HIV Prevention and Health Education will be offering free, confidential rapid HIV testing with same-day results* — Testing will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis and will be limited to capacity. Registration begins at 1:00 pm. *Some results may require further testing.

Sudden Sunsets: A concert of music by composers who died of AIDS

The music of Chris DeBlasio, Lee Gannon, Deolus Husband, Robert Savage and Nicholas Schaffner will be performed by the Downtown Chamber and Opera Players. Brunch will be served at 11:00 am and after the concert, there will be a procession to Union Square where the names of people who have died of AIDS will be read. Produced by Downtown Music Production's Benson AIDS Series. Sponsored by The LGBT Community Center, GMHC and HX Magazine. Wrap & Rap with GMHC and Barnes & Noble

Volunteers will launch the 14th year of the community outreach/fundraising effort at the Chelsea Barnes & Noble store, 675 Sixth Avenue at 22nd Street, by wrapping gifts, encouraging shoppers to take agency literature, and receiving donations that benefit the agency's services and programs.
